The world of fashion is an ever-changing one. Almost every day, we see new fashions appearing on the runway and in retail stores. While we see these fashions, there are other developments happening in the fashion industry that are not as obvious.
For instance, silicone fabrics are changing the textile world. This new material technology has given both women’s and mens fashion clothing new assets including better wrinkle and tear resistance as well as water-repellent abilities. These changes are especially important to fabrics used in outdoor and sports clothing. The new silicone fabrics perform better in both hot and cold environments, yet are comfortable and breathable.
Another new development in the fashion industry is the use of organic fabrics. Most people today want to live a more natural and “green” lifestyle. Much of today’s new women’s clothing, as well as that for men, is made from materials that are free from chemicals and dyes that are harmful to the environment. An example of this is organic cotton. While many of us think of cotton as a natural fiber, organic cotton is grown from seeds that have not been altered or modified. The growing process aims to avoid the use of toxic chemicals and pesticides.
Another way that fabric is becoming more environmentally friendly is through the use of natural dyes. These dyes are made from renewable resources such as plants. By avoiding the use of petroleum and other similar products, these new dyes are more eco-friendly.
Many new and exciting developments in the fashion industry are just around the corner as designers and retailers embrace new technologies.
