If
the roses you receive from the florist are boxed or wrapped keep
them in a cool place until ready to arrange them in a vase.
Make
sure to use the floral preservative you receive with your roses.
Place your flowers in a deep vase of warm water and leave them in
a cool room or the refrigerator for 2-4 hours before arranging
them.
Cut
off ˝ to 1 inch of the stem of each rose while holding under
water with a sharp knife or shears. This prevents air bubbles from
getting into the flower stem.
Remove
any leaves that may be under water to reduce the possibility of
bacterial contamination of the water ( this would shorten the life
of your roses).
Arrange
the roses in a vase prepared with warm water and the preservative
you received from the florist.
To
help your roses last longer keep them from excessive heat and
sunlight, or drafts, your flowers will last longest in a cool
location.
Watch
the water level in the flower vase and refill as needed daily.
Roses drink large amounts of water. If the level falls below half
in the flower vase, replenish with water and floral preservative.
If
you follow these suggestions you should be able to enjoy the roses
your received from the florist for the longest possible time.
